CPP Investments invests $50 million in Beacon Holdings
The Toronto software holding company, which owns 45 software businesses, will use the capital for acquisitions, AI hiring and its shared AI operating system.
CPP Investments has made a $50 million strategic investment in Beacon Holdings, a Toronto-headquartered company that acquires and operates established software businesses. The investment expands Beacon's Series C financing, which was first announced in June 2026.
Beacon operates 45 software companies serving sectors including recreation, utilities, education, government and manufacturing. It is building a shared AI operating system that maps how each portfolio business works and identifies where AI features or process improvements can be added. The new capital will fund further acquisitions, AI engineering recruitment and development of that system.
Beacon CEO and founder Nilam Ganenthiran said the investment validates the company's model. CPP Investments managing director and head of growth equity Max Miller said the deal adds exposure to AI through a Canadian technology company.
