Bertram Capital acquires Motion & Control Enterprises from Frontenac
Bertram bought the Zelienople, Pennsylvania-based industrial distributor from Frontenac, which formed MCE in 2018; terms were not disclosed.
Bertram Capital said it has acquired Motion & Control Enterprises, an engineered solutions distributor of flow control, motion systems and rotating equipment serving industrial customers across the U.S. The company is Bertram's seventh platform investment in Fund V. Terms were not disclosed.
MCE was sold by Frontenac, the Chicago private equity firm that formed the company in 2018 through the acquisition of RitterTech. MCE has since completed 27 acquisitions. CEO Charley Hale will continue to lead the business, and management will retain a meaningful investment.
Bertram cited MCE's national footprint of 50 locations and roughly 850 supplier partners serving more than 25,000 customers, and said it plans to grow the platform both organically and through acquisitions with support from its in-house Bertram Labs team. Solomon Partners advised the seller, BMO advised the buyer, Hirschler was legal counsel, and Ares and Antares provided debt financing.
