Truelink Capital to acquire Johnson Controls intrusion products unit

Los Angeles PE firm Truelink signed a definitive agreement to carve out Johnson Controls' global intrusion products business, which includes DSC, Qolsys and Visonic; terms undisclosed.

Truelink Capital has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the global intrusion products business of Johnson Controls, the companies announced. The carve-out will operate as a standalone company once the deal closes, which is expected in the first half of calendar year 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The business makes intrusion detection and alarm communication products such as panels, sensors and detectors, sold mainly through security dealers under brands including DSC, Qolsys, PowerG, Visonic, Bentel and Sur-Gard. It traces its roots to 1973 and reached Johnson Controls through Tyco's acquisitions of DSC and Visonic and the 2016 Johnson Controls-Tyco merger.

Truelink managing partner Todd Golditch said the firm plans to invest in the core brands, R&D and product development, and sees room to expand into adjacent categories both organically and through add-on acquisitions. The deal is the fourth platform investment for Truelink Capital Fund II and follows its 2024 purchase of Air Distribution Technologies, another Johnson Controls carve-out. Evercore advised Truelink.
