Rexel agrees to buy GCG from Audax for $1.4 billion

The Chicago-based specialty wire and cable distributor expects more than $1.1 billion in 2026 revenue; closing is expected by year-end.

Rexel agreed to acquire GCG from Audax Private Equity in a transaction valuing the business at approximately $1.4 billion. The Chicago-based distributor provides specialty wire and cable, connectivity, power and engineered solutions for critical infrastructure.

GCG operates 16 locations with approximately 950 employees and expects more than $1.1 billion in revenue in 2026. Its services include engineering, custom assembly, product modification, kitting and testing.

Rexel expects the transaction to close by year-end 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
