Create Music Group takes minority stake in DistroKid
Los Angeles-based Create Music Group has acquired a minority stake in music distributor DistroKid, alongside CVC's majority buyout of the company.
Create Music Group has acquired a minority stake in DistroKid, MBW reported on October 28, citing confirmation from Create CEO and co-founder Jonathan Strauss. The investment was made earlier in 2026, adjacent to CVC Capital Partners' acquisition of a majority stake in DistroKid, which closed in the third quarter.
Create is backed by private equity investors Flexpoint Ford and Ares Management. Strauss said Create was excited to partner with CVC as a minority investor and to support DistroKid's continued growth.
