Battery Ventures takes majority stake in water-safety provider Phigenics

Battery Ventures made a majority growth investment in Phigenics, a provider of water-management technology and services based in Warrenville, Illinois. Founded in 2004, Phigenics combines accredited laboratory testing, sensors and its phiAnalytics software to help facilities manage waterborne pathogen risks.
Its more than 250 customer organizations include hospital systems, VA facilities and ambulatory surgery centers. The investment will support product development and expansion into markets including hospitality and retail.
CEO Mark Crockett and the existing management team will continue leading the business. Battery’s Zack Smotherman and Max Kaye will join the board.
