Brightstar Capital Partners invests in USA
Tracing its roots to a 1938 Detroit forklift repair shop, the company has kept aftermarket parts and service at the core of its regional material handling business.
Brightstar Capital Partners has acquired a majority interest in Material Handling Group USA, a technician-led provider of new, used, and rental material handling equipment and aftermarket parts and service. The company serves warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing customers across Michigan, New York, and the Mid-Atlantic region through its Fraza, Vitan Equipment, Matthai Material Handling, and Buffalo Lift Trucks brands.
Brightstar sees room to invest in the technician workforce and bring AI and technology to service operations amid distribution buildout, reshoring, and warehouse automation tailwinds. Industry veteran Jonathan Dawley, former President and CEO of KION North America, will serve as Executive Chair.
"MHG's success is built on its technician workforce and the trust it has earned with customers over decades," said Sean Courtney, Managing Director at Brightstar. CEO Roger Runyan and his management team will retain a meaningful ownership stake.
