Reese Witherspoon and Mediawan buy Hello Sunshine from Candle Media
Film and TV production company Hello Sunshine returns to founder Reese Witherspoon and Mediawan, after Candle Media, backed by Blackstone, sold it at a reported loss.
Reese Witherspoon and the French production group Mediawan have bought Hello Sunshine from Candle Media, which is backed by Blackstone. The purchase price was not disclosed. Deadline reported that Candle Media likely lost several hundred million dollars on the deal, given that it valued Hello Sunshine at $900 million when it acquired the company in 2021.
A source said the cuts refocus the company on film, television and Witherspoon's book club, along with social and digital marketing and brand partnerships. Seth Rodsky joined the board alongside Witherspoon and Mediawan representatives.
