KKR Acquires Minority Stake in BookMyShow
Rising discretionary spending, a large young consumer base, and growing demand for live experiences underpin the investment in India's entertainment sector.
BookMyShow, an India-based entertainment ticketing and live-events platform founded in 2007, has secured a minority investment from KKR. The company runs BookMyShow Live, a live entertainment experiences division that operates across talent and IP acquisition, production, promotion, partnerships, and audience development, and has brought properties such as Lollapalooza India, U2's The Joshua Tree Tour, and NBA debut games in India to local audiences.
KKR's global media and entertainment portfolio includes Internet Brands, ByteDance, Chord Music Partners, Epic Games, PlayOnSports, OverDrive, Superstruct, and Simon & Schuster. Avendus Capital served as exclusive financial advisor for BookMyShow, while Trilegal acted as legal advisor.
