GTCR- and Carlyle-backed CAPTRUST acquires Pacific Sage Partners
Edmonds, Washington wealth manager with about $1.1 billion in client assets, sold by founder Mark Anderson, will operate under the CAPTRUST name.
CAPTRUST, the largest US registered investment adviser by total client assets, has acquired Pacific Sage Partners, a holistic wealth planning firm in Edmonds, just north of Seattle. The eight-person team, led by founder and chief executive Mark Anderson, will trade under the CAPTRUST name. CAPTRUST already has offices in Bellevue and Wenatchee.
CAPTRUST remains majority employee-owned but has taken minority investment from GTCR, which bought a 25% stake in 2020, and Carlyle, which joined in 2023. The firm has absorbed more than 75 advice businesses since 2006. Under its model, acquired advisers become employees and CAPTRUST takes over compliance, HR, technology and back-office work. Sellers can take half their proceeds in CAPTRUST equity.
