Ferring to acquire Gameto in deal worth up to $1.3825B
Gameto, a cell-engineering fertility biotech, agreed to be acquired by privately owned Swiss biopharma Ferring in a deal valued at up to $1.3825B.
Ferring Pharmaceuticals, the privately owned Swiss specialty biopharma group, has signed an agreement to acquire Gameto, a cell-engineering biotech focused on women's reproductive health. The deal is valued at up to $1.3825B, with the price tied to development, regulatory and commercial milestones. Closing is subject to customary conditions, and the companies will operate independently until then.
Gameto's In Vitro Maturation program is investigational in the U.S. and has not been approved by the FDA. Its lead program, Fertilo, uses engineered cells to improve egg maturation for IVF and is in use in clinics in Australia and Latin America, with a Phase 3 trial underway in the U.S. and preliminary results expected in late 2026. Gameto has raised about $127M in reported equity funding.
Gameto CEO and cofounder Dina Turner said the combination would pair the company's cell-engineering platform with Ferring's reproductive-medicine reach to accelerate innovation and expand access. Ferring chairman and CEO Jean-Frédéric Paulsen said the deal would advance new approaches in fertility care.
