EQT-backed Sedum Group agrees to acquire Cleanaway
Sweden's EQT, bidding through vehicle Sedum Group, has agreed a cash takeover of ASX 200 waste operator Cleanaway Waste Management, with scheme documentation and a shareholder vote still to come.
Cleanaway Waste Management, the ASX 200 waste group, has agreed to a cash takeover by Sedum Group, a vehicle backed by Swedish private equity firm EQT. The agreement, announced over the weekend, followed a non-binding approach reported days earlier and an exclusivity period granted to the bidder.
Cleanaway collects residential, commercial and industrial waste, runs landfills and transfer stations and operates recycling and liquid waste businesses.
Completion is not yet assured: the transaction still requires scheme documentation, an independent expert's report, regulatory approvals and a vote by shareholders. Cleanaway shares rose sharply when trading resumed after the agreement.
