EQT Agrees to Buy McGill and Partners for $2 Billion
Warburg Pincus will exit the specialty broker, while its founders and colleagues reinvest.
EQT has agreed to acquire a majority stake in McGill and Partners, a London-based specialty insurance and reinsurance broker, from Warburg Pincus for $2 billion. Founded in 2019 with Warburg Pincus backing, the company has more than 600 employees across seven countries and serves over 1,000 clients.
Founder and CEO Steve McGill will continue to lead the business, and chairman John Lloyd will remain involved. Both will reinvest alongside colleagues as Warburg Pincus exits.
EQT plans to support recruitment, international expansion, and further investment in technology and data capabilities.
