Ansor-backed Corvero acquires Datum Design
Datum Design, a 30-year-old Northern Ireland aerospace tooling designer and manufacturer, joins Corvero as its third acquisition this year.
Ansor portfolio company Corvero, a UK precision manufacturer serving the aerospace and defence industry, has acquired Datum Design, a Northern Ireland-based specialist in aerospace tooling design and manufacture. Datum is Corvero's third acquisition this year, following C&F Millier and BIE Magnum, both Bristol-based.
Datum, founded 30 years ago by Michael Maguire and John Getty, designs and builds bespoke aerospace tooling in metal and composite. Its customers include Airbus, Boeing, GKN and Thales, and it operates a new 22-metre, 5-axis large tooling machine co-funded by the Aerospace Technology Institute.
Corvero said the deal adds tooling design to its group and establishes a base in Northern Ireland. Ansor's Peter Marson said the sector is fragmented and growing.
