Novacap acquires OSI Maritime Systems

Burnaby, British Columbia-based naval navigation and bridge systems maker, founded in 1979, whose systems serve 27 NATO and allied navies.

Novacap has completed its acquisition of OSI Maritime Systems, a Canadian company whose navigation and tactical technology supports 27 NATO and allied navies. Novacap led a Canadian investor consortium that included Export Development Canada and BDC Capital. Financial terms were not disclosed.

OSI, founded in 1979 and based in Burnaby, develops electronic chart software and integrated navigation and bridge systems for surface ships and submarines. Its systems have been installed or contracted on more than 1,000 warships and submarines. The company said it became the first globally to complete independent testing against NATO STANAG 4564 Edition 3.

Novacap said the deal is the first investment from its Technologies Fund VII, which closed in February 2026 with nearly US$3.8 billion in commitments. Jefferies and Shea & Co. advised Novacap, Fasken served as its legal counsel, and Lincoln International and Blake, Cassels & Graydon advised the sellers.
