Vistria-backed ESS acquires HeyTutor, expanding K-12 tutoring and intervention services

ESS, a K-12 workforce solutions provider backed by The Vistria Group, has announced its acquisition of HeyTutor, a technology-enabled provider of in-person tutoring, paraprofessional management and academic intervention services for school districts across the United States.

ESS said the deal strengthens its capacity to address K-12 learning gaps and student support needs by bringing HeyTutor's data-driven tutoring platform into its workforce portfolio. CEO Buddy Helton said the combination creates a platform to serve evolving district needs. ESS says it serves more than 1,200 districts nationwide, reaching more than 8 million students daily.

HeyTutor offers high-dosage and bilingual tutoring, paraprofessional support, standards-aligned math and English Language Arts curricula, and a platform providing student-level progress data. ESS described the acquisition as part of its strategy of expanding into adjacent workforce solutions.
