Energy Fuels agreed to acquire Vacuumschmelze, an advanced magnetics manufacturer, from Ara Partners in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at about $1.9 billion.

The deal links Energy Fuels’ rare earth mining and processing assets with VAC’s downstream magnet manufacturing capabilities, including a Sumter, South Carolina facility serving automotive, defense, robotics and data center customers.

The companies said the transaction is expected to create an integrated rare earth supply chain from upstream production through downstream magnet manufacturing.
