WSB adds Alta Science & Engineering

GHK Capital Partners-backed WSB has acquired Alta Science & Engineering, a Moscow, Idaho-based environmental and infrastructure firm, marking the design and consulting platform’s seventh add-on in three years.

The deal extends WSB's capabilities in environmental services, water resources, and ecosystem restoration while adding a physical presence in Idaho and Washington.

Founded more than 35 years ago, Alta provides environmental services, remediation and brownfields, site characterization and compliance, ecosystems and restoration, water resources, civil engineering, and data management and visualization.

The firm’s over 60 employees operate from four offices in Idaho and Washington, serving public and private clients across the western United States.

WSB president and CEO Bret Weiss called the acquisition a strategic investment in the firm’s environmental and natural systems platform and said it marks WSB’s entry into the Pacific Northwest.

Weiss highlighted Alta’s scientific expertise, collaborative culture, and shared commitment to community impact.

The two firms plan to integrate services and develop a coordinated go-to-market approach in 2026.

Alta CEO Derek Forseth said the partnership gives Alta’s clients access to broader resources and integrated expertise while creating new growth opportunities for staff within a like-minded organization.

WSB now operates from more than 50 offices with approximately 1,700 employees nationwide, serving government, commercial, and infrastructure markets.

Morrissey Goodale, a management consulting and research firm focused on the architecture, engineering, and environmental consulting industries, initiated the transaction and advised Alta Science & Engineering.
