Fengate Private Equity acquires Clinical Research of West Florida
The Tampa Bay clinical research network operates three facilities in Tampa and Clearwater, including a dedicated Phase I unit, and works with biopharmaceutical sponsors and contract research organizations.
Clinical Research of West Florida, an independent clinical research site network operating three facilities in Tampa and Clearwater, was acquired by Fengate Private Equity in a majority transaction. Founded in 1995, the company has supported more than 1,000 Phase I–IV trials for nearly 300 biopharmaceutical sponsors and contract research organizations, with six board-certified principal investigators across autoimmune, pulmonology, and endocrinology.
The investment is the healthcare team's second pharma services platform investment, extending Fengate's coverage from commercialization into clinical development. "Sponsors and CROs increasingly need site partners that can deliver consistent enrollment, quality and execution at scale,” said Maxim Tcherner, Managing Director at Fengate Private Equity.
Fengate is managing the investment on behalf of the LiUNA Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada.
