BB Retail Capital affiliate buys HanesBrands Australia from Gildan
BBFIT Investments, an entity tied to private investment firm BB Retail Capital, closed its purchase of the Australian apparel business for about A$700 million in cash.
Gildan Activewear said it completed the sale of its HanesBrands Australia business to BBFIT Investments Pte Ltd, an associated entity of global private investment firm BB Retail Capital. The buyer paid roughly A$700 million, or about US$490 million, in cash at closing.
HanesBrands Australia had been classified as held for sale and reported as discontinued operations in Gildan's financial statements since the fourth quarter of 2025. Gildan said it will apply the net proceeds to repay outstanding debt.
Chief executive Glenn J. Chamandy described the closing as another step in Gildan's integration plan and said the company would keep focused on integration priorities and synergies. No advisers were disclosed in the release.
