Apollo to take minority stake in Mubadala Capital
Apollo agreed to buy nearly 10% of Mubadala's alternative asset management arm, with strategic investors committing about $5bn across its strategies.
Apollo Global Management has agreed to acquire a minority stake in Mubadala Capital, the alternative asset management arm of Abu Dhabi's Mubadala sovereign wealth fund, as part of a strategic partnership. Reuters reported that Apollo's stake is close to 10%.
Apollo and other strategic investors taking minority positions are expected to commit roughly $5bn combined across Mubadala Capital's investment strategies. The capital is intended to broaden the unit's investor base and support its global investment activity.
Mubadala Capital will keep its independent operations and governance after the deal closes, which is expected in the fourth quarter. Goldman Sachs and Jefferies advised Mubadala Capital; Morgan Stanley advised Apollo.
