Cobalt adds CGL Electronic Security

Brings access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and life safety integration capabilities across Westwood, Massachusetts, and Pittsburgh to Cobalt’s service platform.

Cobalt Service Partners acquired CGL Electronic Security, Inc.

and CGL Technologies of PA, LLC, adding electronic security integration capabilities in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania to its services platform.

The transaction is Cobalt’s 20th acquisition since the company launched in December 2023 and its third acquisition of 2026.

CGL Electronic Security is based in Westwood, Massachusetts, and specializes in access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and life safety systems.

Ron Ludvigsen founded the business in March 1998 with Jim Gallagher and Brendan Cavanaugh.

CGL Technologies of PA was formed in 2021 after Ludvigsen, Gallagher and Cavanaugh joined with Chris Wetzel to take the CGL operating model into Pittsburgh.

The deal provides CGL with leadership transition planning and growth capital while preserving company culture and employee interests.

Ron Ludvigsen and Tony Federico will initially remain in leadership roles in Massachusetts before moving into advisory positions.

Mike McGuirk has assumed the CEO role in Massachusetts, while Chris Wetzel will continue to lead the Pennsylvania business as CEO.
