Avista Healthcare-backed EBI acquires Xstim from Precision Medical Products
EBI, a bone growth stimulation company backed by Avista Healthcare Partners, acquires Xstim, a division of Precision Medical Products focused on next-generation bone healing devices.
EBI, based in Parsippany, New Jersey, has announced the acquisition of Xstim, a division of Precision Medical Products Inc. Xstim develops next-generation bone growth stimulation solutions. EBI is a portfolio company of Avista Healthcare Partners, a middle-market healthcare private equity firm.
The deal adds Xstim's capacitively coupled electrical stimulation technology, including a wearable, non-invasive spine fusion stimulation therapy, to EBI's existing implantable and non-invasive bone healing products. EBI said the combined portfolio covers lumbar spinal fusion, nonunion fracture and failed joint fusion applications.
EBI CEO Kevin Kenny said the acquisition supports the company's goal of becoming the trusted market leader in bone growth stimulation and expands its R&D pipeline. Ropes & Gray LLP advised EBI. William Blair was exclusive financial adviser and Perkins Coie was legal counsel to Precision Medical Products.
