Shimano acquires Jackall from i-Sigma Capital

Shimano takes full ownership of Jackall, a Shiga-based fishing lure maker, from a fund managed by i-Sigma Capital; terms were not disclosed.

Shimano Inc. has acquired all shares of Jackall, the international fishing lure company based in Shiga, Japan, moving a 16-year business partnership into full ownership. The seller was i-Sigma Business Support Fund 3, managed by i-Sigma Capital, a wholly owned Marubeni subsidiary. i-Sigma had invested in Jackall in August 2021. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Shimano and Jackall have worked together since 2010, with Shimano handling Jackall's sales, marketing and distribution and co-developing products such as the Poison Glorious and Poison Adrena rods. Shimano said it will respect Jackall's manufacturing philosophy and design roots while deepening product integration, and no immediate changes to brand operations have been announced.

Jason Livermore, president of Shimano North America Fishing, said Jackall brings a distinctive approach to product development and a strong connection with anglers, and that the companies see significant opportunity in combining their capabilities.
