Clearlake-backed PrimeSource Brands acquires Starborn Industries
Starborn Industries, an Edison, New Jersey maker of branded decking fasteners and installation kits, is sold to PrimeSource Brands.
PrimeSource Brands, a portfolio company of Clearlake Capital Group, has acquired Starborn Industries, according to a press release from BlackArch Partners, which served as the shareholders' exclusive financial adviser on the sale.
Starborn, founded in 1961 and based in Edison, New Jersey, sells fasteners, plugs and tools for decking, exterior and other applications through distributors, dealers and contractors. Its brands include PRO PLUG, CAP-TOR xd, DECKFAST, HEADCOTE and SMART-BIT.
Paul Gertner, Starborn's president, said the family-owned business chose a buyer that valued what it had built over decades. The company will join the PrimeSource family of brands.
