Deepgram acquires Daily, maker of the Pipecat voice agent framework
Daily builds real-time network infrastructure for voice agents and created Pipecat, an open-source voice agent framework.
Deepgram, a San Francisco voice AI infrastructure company, said it is acquiring Daily, the creator of Pipecat, which it describes as the most popular open-source voice agent framework.
Deepgram said Daily's global real-time network connects end users to voice agents with low latency and high reliability. Combined with Pipecat and Deepgram's speech models, the companies plan a Voice Agent Platform that Deepgram says will be the first complete, open, production-grade stack for conversational voice AI.
Pipecat will remain open source under its BSD V2 license, and the companies plan to set up an independent Pipecat Foundation with contributors. Daily co-founder Kwindla Hultman Kramer will join Deepgram as Head of Open Source, and the Daily team will join Deepgram after the acquisition.
