Kainos Capital-backed Colorado Premium is bringing natural smoking to its value-added protein manufacturing model with the acquisition of Old Hickory Smokehouse.

The move adds an artisanal smoked meat capability to the company’s established sous-vide cooking processes, targeting foodservice and retail customers that require multi-modality protein solutions.

Old Hickory Smokehouse, based in Lewisburg, Tennessee, is a family-founded producer of naturally smoked meats.

Founder Wayne Wolf and his sons, Wayne and Brandon, will continue in active roles post-close, maintaining the technical expertise of the smokehouse brand.

Colorado Premium, a portfolio company of Kainos Capital, operates a culinary-forward sous-vide manufacturing platform that supplies precision-cooked beef, chicken, and other proteins to North American foodservice and retail channels.

The addition of Old Hickory Smokehouse integrates authentic smoking capabilities with the platform’s high-volume industrial scale, creating a full suite of cooked protein offerings.

Both organizations are family-founded and share a commitment to craftsmanship, which underpinned the cultural alignment of the deal.

The transaction includes a capital investment program to upgrade Old Hickory’s Tennessee facility, increase production capacity, and connect the site to Colorado Premium’s distribution network.

The upgrades aim to modernize smoking and cooking equipment, boost workforce capabilities, and improve speed-to-market for smoked products.
