Mosaic Capital Partners backs Southern Shade Tree
The deal is Mosaic Capital Partners' fifth platform investment from its second fund and includes an Employee Ownership Trust for all employees.
Southern Shade Tree Co., Inc., a full-service landscaping and tree service provider founded in 1954, has been acquired by Mosaic Capital Partners, LLC. The company serves national and local homebuilders, land developers, and HOAs across North and South Carolina, employing more than 350 people across 12 operating locations.
"We found SST's vertically-integrated business model to be highly differentiated relative to other landscaping operations, particularly in the Carolinas", remarked Steve Buchanan, Partner at Mosaic Capital. Its Bentwood Farms operation, acquired in 2020, cultivates over 4,500 acres of sod production and 100 acres of tree and shrub nurseries.
CEO Scott Roberts and President Brent Lovett, both with more than 20 years at the company, run the business. The transaction included the simultaneous acquisition of Atlantic Coast Landscaping Services, LLC, an eastern North Carolina landscaping operation headquartered in New Bern.
