Vista Equity invests in Vista Equity’s Power Factors
The deal gives the renewable energy software platform additional capital to expand its asset management tools for wind and solar operators.
Mubadala Investment Company has made a minority investment in Power Factors, a Vista Equity Partners portfolio company that supplies asset management software to the renewable energy sector.
The investment, announced May 6, gives the Abu Dhabi sovereign fund exposure to a fast-growing segment of the energy transition technology stack.
Power Factors’ cloud platform unifies performance monitoring, maintenance management and analytics for wind, solar and battery storage projects.
Its software is used by asset owners and operators to drive efficiency and optimize power output across fleets that span multiple continents.
The company, founded in 2015 and backed by Vista since 2021, serves a broad customer base that includes independent power producers, utilities and infrastructure funds.
For Mubadala, which oversees a portfolio worth roughly $300 billion, the stake adds to a growing collection of energy transition investments.
The sovereign investor has committed to backing technologies that accelerate decarbonization, with holdings in areas such as green hydrogen, carbon capture and clean power generation.
The Power Factors investment continues that thematic push.
Vista Equity, a technology-focused private equity firm with more than $100 billion in assets under management, will retain majority ownership.
The capital infusion is expected to support Power Factors’ product roadmap expansion and entry into new geographies.
Vista has focused on building the company’s international presence and deepening its suite of predictive analytics tools.
The investment size was not disclosed.
The transaction was announced May 6 and is expected to close following customary regulatory reviews.
