Saothair Capital Partners buys EAM Corp from Domtar Corporation

The transaction carves a specialty absorbent-materials business out of Domtar Corporation and pairs it with a manufacturing-focused middle-market sponsor.

Saothair Capital Partners acquired EAM Corp, developer and manufacturer of nonwoven airlaid and laminated absorbent materials.

Based in Jesup, Georgia, the company supplies materials for feminine hygiene, adult incontinence, baby diaper, medical, industrial and food packaging applications.

EAM's product portfolio is organized around three branded platforms developed in-house through decades of co-development with hygiene brands, with capabilities spanning product development, manufacturing and finishing.

Saothair purchased the business from Domtar Corporation through a newly formed affiliate and cited specialty materials, blue-chip customer relationships and operational improvement opportunities in its investment case.

Terms were not disclosed; Vanecia Carr, EAM's current general manager, will serve as CEO, and Lori Venn will serve as senior vice president, sales and marketing.
