Gregorio Jiménez agrees to buy Burger King master franchisee RBE from Cinven

Cinven announced on November 6, 2026 that it has signed an agreement to sell its stake in Restaurant Brands Europe to a consortium led by founder Gregorio Jiménez. Cinven did not disclose financial terms, and closing is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. Euro Weekly News reported a valuation of €2.33 billion for RBE, and El Español reported a deal valued at more than €2.3 billion.

RBE is a master franchisee that operates Burger King, Popeyes and Tim Hortons in Spain, Burger King in Portugal and Popeyes in Italy, with more than 1,400 company-owned and franchised restaurants. The group reported €1.541 billion in revenue last year, more than €2 billion including franchisee sales. Cinven entered the company in late 2021. Point Break fund, the Galán and Costa Cerezuela families, and Royal Park, the family office of Ignacio Sánchez Galán, are among the consortium's backers, with Point Break contributing €200 million.
