Pavement Preservation Group adds Asphalt Paving Systems

Adds asphalt and emulsion manufacturing, Hammonton-based operations and public-sector road customers across the Eastern and Southeastern United States.

For its fifth acquisition since Sterling formed the platform in 2024, Pavement Preservation Group acquired Asphalt Paving Systems, adding asphalt and emulsion manufacturing and Eastern and Southeastern U.S. coverage to its pavement preservation business, with Sterling backing the buyer.

Asphalt Paving Systems, or APS, is headquartered in Hammonton, New Jersey, and serves state, county and municipal infrastructure customers.

Founded in 1985, APS is a vertically integrated pavement preservation contractor and manufacturer of asphalt and emulsion products.

The company provides microsurfacing, chip seal, paving and related road-maintenance services for public-sector customers across the Eastern and Southeastern United States.

Pavement Preservation Group provides specialized pavement preservation products and services intended to extend the useful life of asphalt infrastructure.

The APS deal adds a contractor-manufacturer model to the platform as it continues a buy-and-build effort in pavement preservation.

Sterling invests in basic manufacturing, distribution and industrial services companies.

The firm has sponsored 78 platform buyouts and numerous add-on acquisitions representing more than $25 billion of total transaction value, and has about $9.0 billion of assets under management.
