Apollo-Backed State Group Acquires MelKay
The Evansville contractor adds more than 400 union tradesmen serving industrial and commercial customers across three states.
The State Group, a portfolio company of Apollo-managed funds, has acquired Mel-Kay Electric Co., known as MelKay, an Evansville, Indiana-based mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractor. Founded in 1951, MelKay serves industrial and commercial customers in southern Indiana, southern Illinois and western Kentucky.
Its more than 400 union tradesmen provide construction and maintenance services, including HVAC, fire, security, communications and safety systems. Customers include Berry Global, Deaconess Health, Sabic and Toyota.
