GI Partners acquires CDMO and Cell Solutions businesses

Combining plasmid DNA, viral vector, and cell therapy manufacturing with cell supply operations, the new standalone platform operates four sites across the US and UK.

The carve-out of Charles River Laboratories’ CDMO and Cell Solutions businesses has created Rose BioSolutions, a standalone advanced therapy manufacturing platform backed by GI Partners.

Rose Bio brings together end-to-end capabilities across plasmid DNA, viral vector, and cell therapy development and manufacturing, along with the cell supply operations that provide starting materials for research and clinical programs.

The company operates from sites in Rockville, Maryland; Memphis, Tennessee; Northridge, California; and Keele, United Kingdom.

Ahmad Hussin, formerly global head of CDMO at Charles River, serves as chief operating officer of Rose Bio.

Rose Bio operates under a R.O.S.E. standard—Reliable, Outcome-driven, Scalable, and Excellent—to guide client service.

Dave Kreter, managing director and head of healthcare investments at GI Partners, said Rose Bio fills a gap in the market for an end-to-end partner where every step from starting materials to finished therapy is part of a single offering.

GI Partners, which has raised more than $49 billion across its strategies and invests in healthcare, services, and software, intends to invest in infrastructure, operational efficiency, and innovation to shorten delivery timelines for therapy developers.

Moelis & Company served as exclusive financial advisor to GI Partners, and Ropes & Gray provided legal counsel.

Charles River will maintain a long-term commercial relationship with the newly independent company.
