Milestone Funeral Partners adds Four Connecticut funeral homes
The $5.4 million property transaction brings the Maine-based operator to six sites in a state still dominated by independent funeral homes.
In Connecticut’s consolidating funeral services market, Milestone Funeral Partners acquired Four Connecticut funeral homes, adding Waterbury, Thomaston, Wolcott and Trumbull locations to its funeral and cremation services network.
Carriage Services Inc., a public operator with 155 funeral homes in 24 states and 28 cemeteries in nine states, was the seller.
Milestone paid $5.4 million for the properties tied to the four Connecticut locations.
The add-ons bring the Maine-based company to six sites in the state and add to a network of about 90 funeral homes across New England and upstate New York.
The acquired businesses serve families seeking funeral and cremation services.
Woodtick Memorial in Wolcott was identified as one of the locations; the names of the other three acquired homes were not disclosed in the deal record.
Milestone launched in 2021 and is funded largely through private equity.
Martel has described the company as a succession option for funeral home owners, with a post-acquisition model that prioritizes keeping existing staff and, in some cases, former owners involved in local operations.
Industry data show Connecticut had 194 funeral homes at the end of 2025, down from 309 in 2005, while about 85% of the state’s operators remain independently owned.
Nationally, the number of funeral homes fell from roughly 21,000 to 22,000 locations in 2006 to about 15,400 to 15,700 by the end of 2025.
